A friend of mine had the wonderful idea of heading west into the mountains of Virginia to visit a sugar shack this weekend, to see how maple syrup is made. The trip through the George Washington National Forest was wonderfully snowy, and the sap was a-flowin’.
The day was warm, however, and last week’s snow melted rapidly. By today, my yard was bathed in sunlight, and ready for more tending.
The last of last Fall’s kale broke under the weight of the snow, and I now have a bounty of greens for this week’s meals.
It’s time to start anew, with seedlings, and see where the Spring takes us.
